Job Title: Web Master / Front-End Developer

Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a highly skilled WordPress and front-end developer capable of building, optimizing, and maintaining custom websites with strong technical accuracy and reliability. The ideal candidate excels in problem-solving, clear communication, and delivering high-quality work within scope and deadlines. Fluency in English and French is required.
Key responsibilities:
- Build, implement, and launch WordPress sites, themes, and custom features based on design specs.
- Perform updates, backups, security checks, and troubleshoot issues (plugins, themes, performance).
- Write clean, optimized JavaScript, CSS, and front-end code.
- Review code, maintain standards, and reduce technical debt.
- Optimize site speed, caching, and Core Web Vitals.
- Collaborate with designers, marketing, and content teams to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain monthly updates for VIP clients and handle priority support.
- Manage customer requests, scope tasks accurately, and respect estimates and budgets.
- Ensure clear communication with internal stakeholders.
- Oversee deployment, environment setup, and backups (SpinUp).
Required experience and qualifications:
- 3+ years in front-end web development with CMS and custom coding.
- Strong WordPress portfolio (themes, custom development, responsive design).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience building and maintaining WordPress plugins.
- Fluency in English and French.
Core technical skill set: WordPress:
- Deep understanding of WordPress core, themes, plugins, database structure, and SEO basics.
- Ability to build/modify custom themes and plugins from scratch.
- Experience with migrations, performance optimization, caching, and security.
- Experience with e-commerce (WooCommerce) and client-facing features.
- Proficiency with no-code builders (Elementor, Gutenberg, Divi, etc.).
Core technical skill set: Front-End:
- Expert in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive/mobile-first design.
- Strong JavaScript (ES6+), DOM manipulation, async programming.
Core technical skill set: Back-End Integration:
- Strong PHP within WordPress (hooks, filters, OOP, REST API).
- Working knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB.
- Proficient with Git and browser dev tools.
The schedule is full-time, Monday to Friday during regular business hours, in compliance with BC labor laws.
