You’re a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives on accuracy, consistency, and organization. You take pride in ensuring every paycheck, deduction, and deposit is correct — down to the last cent. You understand how payroll connects to benefits, taxes, and HR operations, and you bring both precision and care to your work. You value clear communication, reliability, and process improvement, and you’re confident managing payroll independently while collaborating across departments to keep everything running smoothly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a relevant field (or equivalent work experience)
- 5+ years of experience in payroll processing and reconciliation
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, deductions, and tax regulations
- Experience administering benefits (adding deductions, processing HSA deposits, managing 401(k) contributions)
- Experience using QuickBooks and/or NetSuite
- Familiarity with HR-related tasks (tax registrations, salary change processing, promotions/demotions)
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and data accuracy
A day in the life
As the Payroll Specialist, you ensure every detail behind each paycheck is accurate, compliant, and on time. You balance precision with efficiency, keeping payroll operations running seamlessly while supporting related HR and finance processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Process weekly payroll for U.S.-based employees, ensuring accuracy in pay rates, deductions, and withholdings
- Reconcile payroll records, including general ledger entries and benefit deductions
- Manage benefit-related payroll tasks such as updating employee elections, processing HSA contributions, and administering 401(k) plans
- Partner with HR on employee changes (new hires, promotions, salary adjustments, and terminations)
- Verify and maintain accurate payroll data in alignment with company policies and state/federal requirements
- Prepare and submit reports as needed for finance and compliance
- Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related questions
- Other duties as assigned
