About the Role
The Video Editor will lead the editing and production of high-impact, platform-native video content for X Games’ social channels.
This role reports directly to the Social Media Manager, who manages workflow, priorities, and publishing cadence. While the primary focus is short-form and social-first content, this role should be able to flex across broader marketing, branded, and broadcast initiatives as needed. All workload prioritization will be coordinated through the Social Media Manager to ensure alignment across channels and campaigns.
This is a fast-paced, high-volume editing role ideal for someone who understands both storytelling and performance-driven content.
Responsibilities
Social-First Video Editing (Primary Focus)
- Edit short-form video content optimized for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms
- Cut highlights, athlete features, hype edits, recaps, and promotional content
- Repurpose broadcast and long-form footage into engaging social-native formats
- Optimize pacing, hooks, captions, and retention strategies for performance
- Maintain high visual and storytelling standards aligned with the X Games brand
Event & Production Support
- Work X Games League tentpole and auxiliary events as an on-site videographer/editor when needed
- Support real-time editing during live events and competitions
- Assist in post-production efforts for original, third-party, and branded content
- Create alternate cuts and deliverables for partners and sponsors.
Collaboration & Workflow
- Execute against creative briefs and timelines set by the Social Media Manager
- Collaborate closely with the Graphic Designer to integrate motion graphics and visual elements
- Organize and maintain digital media assets (video, photo, audio) with strong file management practices
- Contribute to content ideation and storytelling concepts across social and digital channels
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Partnerships, Live Events, Athlete Relations, and Production teams
Performance & Innovation
- Edit with performance metrics in mind (watch time, engagement, retention)
- Stay current on social trends, editing styles, transitions, and emerging formats
- Maintain a high level of video and content quality consistent with X Games standards
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional video editing experience (sports, digital, entertainment, or social media preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; After Effects experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of short-form, vertical, and platform-native video formats.
- Experience repurposing broadcast footage into social content.
- Strong storytelling instincts with a fast, energetic editing style.
- Highly organized with strong asset management skills.
- Comfortable working nights, weekends, and holidays during live events.
- Self-starter with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Passion for action sports and youth culture.
- Experience shooting video (DSLR/mirrorless preferred).
- Ability to color correct, mix audio, and integrate motion graphics.
- Experience editing sports or high-intensity action content.
- Ability to translate athlete-driven moments into culturally relevant storytelling.
The base salary range for this role is $60,000 – $70,000. Compensation is determined based on factors including (but not limited to) experience, skills, job-related knowledge, and geographic location.
